"There
is Much to See & Do"...
La Grange
is the county seat for Fayette County & presently
maintains an official US Census population of about 4500
people; however, the truer number is closer to 7500 with
the inclusion of two major, but unincorporated,
residential communities, which abut the town limits.
There is much
to see and do in la Grange & the surrounding Fayette
County region. La Grange is home to one of the
State of Texas' most beautiful and historic parks,
Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Park.
It is located on the "Bluff", which is a promontory that
overlooks La Grange and the Colorado River basin.
The fabulous "Painted Churches", which dot the rural
landscape between La Grange and Schulenburg, are
inspirational treasures & a must to see. During
the spring and fall, you will want to come and stay for
several days & shop at one of the largest indoor-outdoor
antique shows held in the United States. This
twice a year event, known as "Antique Weekend" &
"Preview Weekend", stretches between the communities of
Warrenton, Round Top, Shelby & Carmine located a short
driving distance northeast of La Grange.
If the culture
experience is what you desire, then one does not have to
travel too far to satisfy that need either at the
International Festival Institute at Round Top for the
Performing Arts or Shakespeare at Winedale near Round
Top, which is a University of Texas at Austin program
staged by the College of Liberal Arts. Both of
these institutions have provided performing &
educational programs to the Fayette County Regions for
more than 35 years. |
